Dr. Urs Ramseier

Urs Ramseier is a co-founder of Twelve Capital. Prior to co-founding Twelve Capital, Urs was Head of ILS at Horizon21, an alternative investment manager based in Pfaeffikon, Switzerland. He began his career in 1995 with Credit Suisse in Zurich before moving to London in 1996 to work for Credit Suisse Financial Products, where Urs became responsible for managing insurance company credit risk. He was also a member of the Global Credit Committee at Credit Suisse First Boston in Hong Kong. From 1999 to 2001, Urs worked for Lombard Odier & Cie in Geneva as a sell-side Equity Analyst for insurance and real estate stocks. In 2001, he rejoined Credit Suisse First Boston in Zurich as a buy-side Analyst and Portfolio Manager, and assumed responsibility for all of Credit Suisse Asset Management’s investments in European insurance stocks. Urs holds a PhD from the University of Berne, where his major study was Economic Geography. His earlier studies were at the Institut de Sciences Politiques in Paris and the University of Bern.
Marlene Stam

Marlene Stam is a founding partner of XS Investments with 18 years experience in the institutional investment industry. Previously, Marlene worked for Russell Investment Group, where from 1996 she was responsible for the implementation of the marketing strategy of the firm’s multi manager funds business in London. In 2002, Marlene moved to Johannesburg to start co-head Russell’s South African business. In 2004 she relocated back to Europe and was made Director of Partnerships and Distribution Alliances for the Benelux and Nordics regions from its Amsterdam office. She left Russell to set up XS Investments at the end of 2006.

Christoph Buerer is a co-founder of Twelve Capital. Prior to co-founding Twelve Capital, Christoph established the ILS-related legal structuring function at Horizon21, an alternative investment manager based in Pfaeffikon, Switzerland. His primary responsibility was to design non-life and life transactions, with an emphasis on private risk transfer solutions in (re)insurance and derivative formats. He also structured tailor-made investment management mandate platforms and open-ended mutual funds. Christoph has significant experience in structuring and executing transactions integrating (re)insurance and capital markets solutions, corporate governance, as well as in managing reinsurance entities and run-off activities. Christoph started his career in 1998 with Zurich Financial Services and held various positions with ZFS in Zurich, London and Luxembourg. Christoph holds a Master of Law from the University of Zurich, an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a PhD from the University of Zurich, with a thesis examining contingent capital. Christoph was awarded the Issekutz-Prize for outstanding contributions to business law as well as the Prof. Walther Hug Prize for the best law PhD theses in an academic year. He was also inducted to the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society for excellence in business education. Christoph is a non-executive member of the Board of Directors of Ikano Re, a reinsurer controlled by the Kamprad family.

Andreas Casutt earned his doctorate in jurisprudence from the University of Zurich, after which he became a member of the Zurich bar and supplemented his education by receiving an LL.M degree from the University of Michigan. Following brief activities at the Meilen District Court, he joined the renowned Niederer Kraft & Frey legal practice in 1993, where in 2002 he was named Partner and in 2006 Managing Partner. Andreas Casutt has a wealth of experience in the field of mergers & acquisitions. He also advises clients in the area of private equity transactions as well as interaction with the financial market supervisory authority (FINMA) and the Swiss Takeover Board. Labour law is another focal point of his work.
Dr. Frank Schönemann

Besides his role as Vice-Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Twelve Capital Germany, Frank Schönemann is a Principal Legal Counsel with a German DAX listed corporate. In the latter role he is responsible for advising both regulated and unregulated group businesses, covering banking and financial services, capital markets, funds and asset management, private equity as well as project and commercial finance. Prior to that, he practised with Baker McKenzie, primarily in the corporate, financial services and capital markets areas. Frank is admitted to the Munich bar as a lawyer. Frank commenced his legal career in 2004 as a trainee lawyer with the Regional Court in Frankfurt and has since established significant expertise in financial, banking and corporate law. He obtained his PhD in law from the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg im Breisgau, graduating magna cum laude in 2009 with his thesis on the organisation of stock exchanges. His earlier law studies were in Grenoble and Freiburg im Breisgau, which he completed with best honors for extraordinary academic achievements.
Clive O'Connell

Clive O’Connell is the Head of Insurance and Reinsurance at law firm McCarthy Denning. As a high calibre industry figure, he is recognised as one of the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance legal professionals. Clive holds an LL.B. with honours from the University College London (UCL). He brings over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry to Twelve Capital. He has received a number of prestigious awards and honours and, in December 2014, was named as one of the top 50 influencers in insurance and reinsurance worldwide by the publication Insurance Day. Clive has been involved in many different multijurisdictional cases all over the world. He is also General Counsel and a member of the board of the International Insurance Society and a board member of the New York chapter of the CPCU.
Tony Maximchuk

Tony Maximchuk began his career in financial markets in 1990. Over that time frame he worked within investment banks as a fixed income sales executive serving institutional investors in the UK and Middle East; followed by a decade inside the Swiss Re Group and ended up there running the London offices of Conning Asset Management, a business focused on meeting the portfolio management needs of insurance companies; and, followed by completing his full-time employment career with Securis Investment Partners, an alternative investment manager investing in both non-life and life investment risk on behalf of pension funds, family offices, insurers and HNW investors. In his time at Securis, Tony’s main responsibility for business development and the subsequent management of client relationships was in the UK and Australia.

Marcel Wildhaber is a Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer at Twelve Capital. Prior to joining the firm, he worked for 10 years at Man Investments in both London and Pfaeffikon, Switzerland. During this time he was Head of Product Management for Institutional Fund of Funds, Global Head of Operations, Head of New Business Development and Global Head of the FRM Middle Office. He also served as COO of Man Fund Management (Schweiz) AG and COO of Product and Client Operations, reporting to the Man executive committee. Marcel started his career in 1997 with Credit Suisse, where he managed operations for listed and OTC Derivatives. He has a degree in Banking and Finance from KV Business School, Switzerland. He is also a member of the CFA Institute and a CFA Charterholder.
